Black Gold

With the six-part drama series BLACK GOLD, Kinescope Film GmbH and NDR are producing a unique chapter of North German history set in the Lüneburg Heath. The production takes viewers to a fictional village around 1900. Here, farmers discover oil and engage in ruthless business practices at the expense of the villagers. The focus is on the heroic journey of Johanna Lambert, a farmer's daughter: after the violent death of her father, Johanna stands up to the all-powerful oil barons. BLACK GOLD is a historical series with highly topical references to the destructive power of the boundless greed of individuals and the courage of a young woman to rebel against injustice.
