Press release

The German film IN GOOD FAITH by Frauke Lodders was awarded the Prize of the City of Chemnitz at the 29th International Film Festival Schlingel. The award honours the moving drama, which deals intensively with the topics of faith, identity and sexual orientation.

IN GOOD FAITH , produced by Kinescope Film, tells the story of two siblings who grow up in a strict evangelical free church and live their faith with passion. When young Timo discovers that he is attracted to men, he finds himself in an inner conflict and desperately tries to have his homosexuality ‘cured’. The film celebrated its premiere at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival, where it already received the youth jury prize, and was also honoured at the Emden-Norderney film festival.

The award ceremony at the IFF Schlingel underlines the artistic and social relevance of the film. The jury and the audience recognised the powerful narrative style and the courageous exploration of difficult topics.

IN GOOD FAITH was made in co-operation with NDR, Arte, Hessen Film & Medien and nordmedia.
