David Garrett live in Taormina

For his open-air concert in Sicily, star violinist David Garrett has chosen a spectacular location: the ancient theater of Taormina with a view of Mount Etna. In new arrangements, he will play Vivaldi, Schumann, Saint-Saëns, Kreisler, and many other composers. He will be accompanied by the "Orchestra del Teatro di Messina" conducted by Gianna Fratta.

The classical ICONIC tour convinces with the outstanding selection of well-known pieces, reminiscent of the Golden Age of violin virtuosos such as Zino Francescatti, Arthur Grumiaux, Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Kreisler, and Yehudi Menuhin. Audiences will be enthralled live and in front of screens by the unique atmosphere of the theater and the program with its musical miniatures and encores.

"Unfortunately, for the past few decades, violinists have been playing less and less often some of the short pieces that the greats of the 1920s and 1930s performed in their concerts, yet they immediately stick in your mind," Garrett says. "It means all the more to me, therefore, that I now have the opportunity to bring all these beautiful pieces back to life."

David Garrett will be accompanied by his guitarist and arranger Franck van der Heijden, bassist Rogier van Wegberg, and the "Orchestra del Teatro di Messina" conducted by Gianna Fratta.
